Strong legs. Steady hips. Presence with every step. Especially now, when we’ve all had it with the snow ❄️+ ice 🧊

Balance work isn’t just a yoga practice.
It’s fall prevention. It’s confidence. It’s longevity. It requires attention to perform.

For me, this is personal. I’m a little over a year out from my two knee replacements, my body is now strong and stable!

However, one fall could undo months of pre-hab and rehab! 🤕⛓️‍💥 Presence and strength work matters.

Whether you’ve had knee replacements or not, balance is a lifelong practice of mine.
It trains strength + attention. Working on your center of gravity is the ticket. Avoid the slip and fall!

Today, here’s a glimpse into my home practice: strong legs, steady hips, full attention. Prepping to head into the snowy, icy outdoors. Thanks @jennharte for leading the flow today. ❄️😊

also known as point-to-point instruction
(action verb · body part · location).

Most teachers learn this in their 200-hour training, and for good reason…it creates clarity, safety, and trust. 🧷👍

I was recently asked: What is the definition of a yogi? 🤔 It was a surprisingly thought-provoking question for me. I wanted to give the question an honorable answer.

A yogi isn’t the person who crushes their practice every single time. It’s not the one who twists, binds, handstands their way through the asana practice, only eats vegan, or can recite an exorbitant number of verses from the Yoga Sutras.

A yogi is present. It’s that simple.

Somewhere along this yoga journey someone said “a yogi leaves the world a little better than they found it.” That means: they listen more than they react. They bring steadiness when things get shaky. They leave people, places, and conversations feeling a little more awake, and leave others a little more cared for.

A yogi isn’t perfect. And they’re not even trying to be “spiritual.”

They’re awake.
They’re paying attention.
They’re willing to take responsibility for their presence.

And honestly? If the world is even slightly better because of your participation in it…you’re a practicing yogi.

Thanksgiving Eve.

My quiet stretch before the hustle, the gatherings, the food, the stories, the laughter, all the things!

The shapes of these poses feel like metaphors for this past year ➡️

Today I opened class with Headstand. Not for the shock value, but to turn their world upside down, wake up the brain with fresh circulation, and drop everyone straight into presence.

And wow… from that moment on, the room was locked in. 🔒

Steady.

There’s something magic about starting where you normally end.

🌫️ Brain Fog Day 🌧️🧠

Not the “I can’t remember what I walked into this room for kind” … it’s the nothing’s landing, blank brain, everything feels fuzzy kind.

Normally I’d go walk it off, but it’s raining… and honestly, I’m wasting more energy and time fighting it!

In yoga, there’s a term for this (styāna) dullness of mind. So yes, it’s real!
Apparently the antidote isn’t more effort, or to try harder….yay, good news!

So, I’m going to take a nap! Guess that means I’m still practicing yoga 🧘‍♀️ following the Sutras, one snooze at a time. 😴

Today’s mantra: permission to not be “on,” and having zero guilt about it. 👍

I can’t give away all the details (you’ll discover them inside the training 😉), but here is the gist to spark your interest and will be woven throughout our entire 300-Hour YTT:

The Compass Points bring timeless wisdom into the present. They’re directional markers that help us grow, stay resilient through challenges, act with integrity, and find traction so our growth becomes embodied action. Together, they shape leaders who don’t just teach yoga—they live it.
